Fees for Sponsor Licence and work visas applications
In order to sponsor skilled workers in the United Kingdom an organisation must hold a sponsor licence. The organisation must apply for a sponsor licence before they can bring any employees to the UK.
The sponsor licence application is made to the Home office and your organisation must be prepared to carry out the following steps:
Confirm your organisation is eligible and meets all the Home Office criteria
Appoint key personal to manage the licence and employees
Gather the required supporting documents for the application
Complete the online application
Upload the relevant document to the Home Office
Pay the relevant fee
Prepare for any compliance visits.
Once the application is fully submitted the Home Office typically takes 8 weeks to decide the application – during that time they may conduct further checks or request additional information.
The fee payable to make the application will depend on the size of your organisation:
A ‘small’ business fee is £536
(definition is i. A turnover of not more than £10.2 million, ii. A balance sheet total of not more than £5.1 million, iii. It employs no more than 50 employees.) fee is £536
A large business fee £1476
Once the sponsor licence is granted you will be able to begin sponsoring employees immediately. To sponsor an employee, you must be employing them in a relevant job. Those relevant jobs are listed in Appendix skilled Occupations found here. Each job has a SOC code, and you must identify the correct SOC code to issue the certificate of sponsorship.
Once you have the relevant SOC code and meet the other eligibility requirements (including salary and English language) you will then need to apply for or issue a Certificate of sponsorship (CoS) via the Sponsor Management System (SMS). This stage is relative quick and can be managed in a few days at the most. The type of CoS is dependant on whether the application is from inside or outside the UK.
Once the CoS is issued the employee must then make a visa application to the Home Office using the CoS. This visa application may take 6 weeks although there are faster services and it can be decided in a matter of days. The organisation may assist with this application or can leave this to the employee.
There are Home Office fees and the Immigration Health Surcharge which must be paid at the visa application stage. The Home office fees from outside the UK are up to £719 per person for up to three-year visa and £1,420 for more than three-years. The Immigration Health surcharge is £1035 for each year of the visa and must be paid for the whole length of the visa at application.
We are able to assist with all stages of the sponsor licence and skilled worker process. Our fees are set out below. These fees do not include relevant Application fees, Home Office fees and Immigration Health Surcharge
